New Year's Resolutions

Wednesday, December 31, 2014

New Year's Resolutions! 2014 was a busy and a big year for me. There was a lot of good and a fair amount of bad. While I can't completely ensure that the next year won't hold a few bumps, I can work towards learning from the bumps that happened before.
Balancing Work Life - I switched jobs this year to a new position at a new company that I was really excited about. The only problem for me is that I could never seem to manage separating my work and home life. There's a big difference between checking your email a couple times while you're at home and constantly refreshing to see if you have any messages. This is something I'm determined to work on this year. I need to find that happy middle ground.
Investing in Myself - For me, this means a lot of things. One of which is saving more money for myself. I know the importance of having money saved up for a rainy day or a really bad one, but I have never been great at this in the past. I always found it difficult to tell myself no when push comes to shove, but this year I'm steeling my resolve. By the end of next year, I hope to have six months to a year's worth of emergency funds saved up. This may not seem like a lot, but every little bit helps. Another way I want to invest in myself is in my closet. When I was younger, I always found it easier to stock up on inexpensive and poorly made items that did not stand the test of a second season. This year, I'm going to invest in a few expensive pieces that will last both the test of time and style. Here are some great pieces I plan to invest in this year.
Move it - This is probably one on everyone's list after a couple of heavy eating holidays weeks, but I really want to work on my exercise routines this year. Now, I'm not going to go out and immediately sign up for a gym membership and a personal trainer because I know I can't stick to that. In truth, I may have tried it before and failed miserably. Instead, I want to work on small workout extras to try everyday. Maybe that's taking the long route to work or doing an extra ten minutes on the treadmill, but it will be a constant and everyday effort. Those something smalls could add up to something big in the long run.
Relax- I used to do this so well, but with my mounting stress levels, all of my usual go-to stress relievers haven't been doing the trick. I need to work on finding new ways to take away the piles of stress that seem to mount after a few long and hard weeks. Whether it's meditation, yoga, or some good old fashioned pampering, I will be working very hard this year to learn how to relax.

What about you? What resolutions are you working on for the New Year?

Wall Calendars

Tuesday, December 30, 2014

With the New Year fast approaching, I started looking for a new wall calendar to hang above my desk. I love writing down fun events to look forward to and crossing off the days that have passed. It may be totally weird, but I always find it really gratifying to cross off days on my calendar. It also helps me to keep track of all my big events. It's definitely saved me from forgetting a couple of birthdays and big dinners. Below are some of the wall calendars that I have been checking out for this year. It's definitely a difficult decision considering you will be looking at all year long so be sure to choose wisely!

Red, Blue & Striped All Over

Monday, December 29, 2014

I took a bit of a blogging sabbatical last week to take full advantage of the upcoming holiday that is my absolute favorite, Christmas! I wanted to be fully focused and enjoy the passing moments so I did my best to avoid my computer for the whole week. While I couldn't do it 24/7 (I still had my day job to do), I managed to keep myself from delving back in too much. Now that I've had a very eventful and restful break, I am completely ready to be back! I couldn't wait to show off this Kate Spade dress that I bought as an early Christmas/Birthday present for myself. I am turning 26 after all and I consider every birthday to be a big birthday. This fit and flare gem of a dress was the perfect outfit for an afternoon brunch with my boyfriend and my sister as we got ready to celebrate my favorite holiday. I paired the dress with a bright red cross body bag and a comfy fair of red wedges. I felt very nautical the whole day.
I love that almost all Kate Spade dresses have pockets. Dress pockets are a HUGE plus in my book.

I just adore this C.Wonder initial necklace that I'm wearing. It came in a gift box that also has the matching B initial earrings too!

All Wrapped up in Sugar Paper

Wednesday, December 17, 2014

I've been totally focused lately with wrapping up all my presents for the holidays. In previous years, I've wrapped them up in whatever Christmassy paper I had on hand, but they never looked as spiffy as they do this year. This year, I found the ultimate in Christmassy cards and festive wrapping paper in Sugar Paper LA
I was completely intrigued by Sugar Paper LA the first time I spotted a photo of some super festive cards on Twitter. I kept coming back and visiting my favorite items on the site before making a bit of wrapping paper and Christmas card splurge on Black Friday. I picked up this awesome reversible wrap in cheerful red that shows off candy cane stripes on one side and red and white polka dots on the other. Perfect paper for Christmas present wrapping!
They had such an awesome Black Friday sale that I also grabbed their From Santa gift tags, which classed up all my gifts with their festive and beautiful calligraphy. I also grabbed a bunch of fun Christmassy cards to spread some holiday cheer.

Have you checked out Sugar Paper LA? Let me know in the comments below!

Comfy in Disney

Tuesday, December 16, 2014

Busy, busy, busy. I just got back from my whirlwind weekend at Disneyland last night and I was so exhausted. Going to the parks for a couple of days is amazing, but totally exhausting since you are running around the park all day trying to hit all your favorite rides and eateries. This type of all day exercise calls for a comfy all day outfit. The weather in Anaheim was a bit temperamental being freezing (freezing for me is anything under 60 degrees) in the morning and at night and being really warm during the day. This meant I had to strategically choose an outfit that contained a couple of layers.
I went for a pair of super comfy black leggings from Forever21 and I got them for under $4! Seriously, I had to buy them in at least four other colors. They are the perfect basics to throw on. Walking around the park all day, you need to opt for a comfy pair of shoes and I am never comfier than in my favorite pair of black converse.
Walking around the park, I always feel like I need at least one piece of Disney attire and I have the perfect sweatshirt for that. My Minnie sweatshirt has a cute hood with Minnie Mouse ears and her signature bow. My boyfriend got it for me the last time we hit Disneyland since it got so cold at night and I love to wear it whenever I'm having an off day. It gives me a little dose of the disney magic at the Disney parks and at home. Sadly, you can only really find these at the Disneyland Resort parks, but if you happen to stop by, this is the best sweatshirt to pick up!

I needed a shirt that would keep me warm, but could also be converted to handle the midday sun. I love these J.Crew flannel shirts and picked a festive red and black one to wear while we wandered around Disneyland. It was great to keep me cosy, but the sleeves can easily be rolled up if it got hot. I also went for a really low maintenance hairstyle while walking around the parks. You never want to be the one having to restyle her hair after every ride so I opted for a cute little side braid with all my whispy hair pieces and bangs pinned to the side. Perfect for all the topsy turvy rides with their sudden stops and drops.

The last absolutely essential piece of my Disneyland outfit was my Kate Spade Mini Maise in black. I picked up this little purse at a Kate Spade holiday event last week and I found that it was the perfect cross body mini bag for my weekend trip. It was great to put all my airplane essentials so I didn't need to pull out my huge purse every time I needed to grab chapstick, headphones or my wallet. It's the perfect size for carrying those absolutely must have items and I can totally see myself using it for every upcoming holiday party!

Disneyland for the Holidays

Friday, December 12, 2014

I am so excited to be spending all of this weekend at the Disneyland resort! I love going to disneyland and I try to make it there for a weekend at least twice a year, but never have I been there around the Christmas holidays. I can’t wait to see it all decked out for the season. They have a 60 foot Christmas tree on Main street, the castle is decked out with lights and "snow" and they have amazing colored lights and garlands strung everywhere. They also have festive treats at all your favorite Disneyland restaurants and even a special Holiday parade with new Frozen floats!
I’m so excited I can barely contain myself. I just love all the magic of Disney and, not to mention, all of the fun rides! I can’t wait to see The Haunted Mansion decked out with The Nightmare before Christmas decor for the holidays and see It’s a small world all lit up in Christmas cheer. Safe to say, my weekend is going to be very busy and very festive.

Are you a big disney fan too? Share with me in the comments below!

5 Must Do's for the Holiday Season

Thursday, December 11, 2014

1. Decorate A Christmas Tree  This is totally a no brainer for most. Duh, there’s nothing more Christmassy than decorating a tree, but I make it a whole affair. When I was younger, I remember having my own personal ornaments that only I could add to our Christmas tree. Each kid in our family each had their own. There were the normal personal ones that had your name on them from Baby’s 1st Christmas and then there were the ones you made in school with paint and glue, but then there were also the super special ones. The ornaments that were your absolute favorite to stare at on the tree every year. In the spirit of those ornaments, my boyfriend and I buy two new ornaments to add to the tree each year. We pick them out especially as our favorites, mine are always Disney themed, to add to our tree for this year and every Christmas to come. It’s becoming one of my favorite Christmas traditions.
2. Visit Festive Lights - I am so thankful to have been born and raised in San Francisco. I especially love it during the holidays. The city seems to get more and more festive around this time every year and it seems like every door has a wreath and every window has a tree. The hotels in the downtown area become especially festive around the holidays with their enormous trees and fantastical gingerbread creations. I love taking a tour of all my favorite hotels to see how they dolled up for the season. It really gets me in the Christmas spirit.
3. Bake Up A Storm - Baking & the Holidays go together like PB&J and I love to hole up for a weekend making secret ingredient cookies, homemade peppermint bark and my own personal favorite, oatmeal jam bars!
4. Watch A Bunch of Christmas Movies - The Christmas season would not be complete without watching a million and one Christmas movies! I love to pull out all my Christmas favorites and watch them as I decorate the tree or bake something festive. Some of the movies on my top ten Christmas movie list have to be Elf, Home Alone, The Polar Express, How the Grinch Stole Christmas and The Muppet’s Christmas Carol. I wish I could watch all of those right now!
5. Open Advent Calendars - One of my new Christmas Must Do traditions has to be the Countdown to Christmas with Advent Calendars. It’s like opening up a new present every day as you count down to my favorite holiday of the year!

Currently I'm Loving...

Wednesday, December 10, 2014

Almost everything I'm currently loving is themed around the upcoming holiday and why wouldn't it be? I just adore Christmas and I love anything and everything that gets me into the festive spirit!
Home Alone - The Christmas season to me means getting the chance to re-watch all of my holiday film favorites. Every year, I am reminded why each of these movies is so awesome. One of my absolute holiday favorites has to be Home Alone. A holiday classic to be sure, I can never get over how much of a smartie Kevin is to be able to set all that stuff up to trap the Wet Bandits. Don’t lie, we all totally wanted to do that when we were younger!
Fresh Sugar Rose Lip Treatment -  I have always loved Fresh. Their products do wonders for my skin and they always smell so relaxing. I got one of my old favorites, the Fresh Lip Treatment in Rosé in their All Star Wonders kit and I have been absolutely loving it for my day to day look. It gives a very light hint of color, but what I really love about these treatments is the scent. It’s like this brown sugar delicious scent that makes your lips perfectly kissable, which is definitely a good thing around all this mistletoe.
Essie Really Red - The polishes that have been on my nails in the last few weeks have all been in the red family. Red polishes are the only ones I’ll wear in the Christmas season, unless I find that elusive forest green shade I’ve been trying to find. I can’t seem to get enough of the color red for polish. The red shade I seem to be favoring the most this season is Essie Really Red. I mean, it is just that, a super gorgeous bright red, perfect to show off your festiveness in the season!
Sugar Paper Wrapping paper & Gift Tags - I’ve been getting really into the festive spirit lately and that means sending out Christmas cards and wrapping presents and Sugar Paper LA has been helping me to do that with such style and class. Their products are just too cute and festive for the season. I had so much fun picking out my wrapping paper and tags to go along with it. And what’s more, their wrapping paper is reversible so it was like two different wrapping papers in one! I also adored their From Santa gift tags, which added that air of special Christmas magic to all my presents.
Fresh Balsam 3-wick Candle - The Christmas season wouldn’t be complete without that tell tale smell of Christmas trees. To make sure it could be smelled all throughout the house, I have been burning Bath & Body Works Fresh Basalm candles and totally loving how they fill my home with the smell of Christmas!
Lego Advent Calendar - The last thing on my Currently I’m Loving list has to be my Advent Calendars. Getting up and out of bed is usually so hard for me in the moorings, when my bed is always so warm and comfy, but having these little bad boys to open makes me jump up and rush to go see what I’m putting together today!
J.Crew Factory Shearling Slippers - To keep away the chilly cold, I have been absolutely loving my J.Crew Factory shearling slippers. They are ridiculously cosy on chilly mornings padding back and forth between the kitchen (for coffee) and the bathroom (for makeup) and my bedroom (for clothes). Seriously, if you are looking for a pair of inexpensive and ridiculously cosy slippers for the house, then you have found the perfect pair here.
Kate Spade Cedar Street Patent Aster - I have been absolutely loving this purse lately and it’s so appropriate for the season. It’s my go to bag whenever I’m hitting a happy hour downtown or a brunch with the boyfriend. It makes me feel so festive whenever I’ve got it on and I love to pair with it with all of my Kate Spade bow jewelry.

Festive Shades of Red & Green

Tuesday, December 9, 2014

A chilly Sunday in the neighborhood and I decided to go a bit festive with my ensemble. With Christmas fast approaching, I found a perfect top to get myself in the Christmas spirit.
This hammock green peter pan collar blouse from J.Crew Factory is flowy and festive and perfect for work or grabbing a weekend drink with a friend, especially when paired with my Kate Spade Cedar Street Aster purse. Pairing the top and purse with a white skirt, navy blue tights and some dark brown booties, it was the perfect outfit for an early morning brunch and on to a tour of some of San Francisco's most festive Christmas trees.

Stuff the Stockings

Monday, December 8, 2014

I've always loved opening my stocking on Christmas morning. Aside from the presents from friends and family, my mom always filled our stockings with small little items that she knew we would each love. Stockings would always be filled to the brim and laid out on the couch and they have always been the first thing we opened on Christmas morning. Even now, I really love finding new little minis to fill the stockings. Here are some of my stocking stuffer inspirations from this year.

Friday Funny: Fantasy Football Bets

Friday, December 5, 2014

After years of watching The League, I definitely get the entertainment value of people winning and losing Fantasy Football leagues. I won once with a random selection of players I got because I auto drafted and victory wasn't as sweet because I did absolutely nothing to work for it. On The League when you lose, there is the dishonor of the Sacko Trophy and usually an embarrassing bet that has taken place, which the loser has to carry out until the next season.
In this case, the loser of this particular real-life league had to create a shot for shot remake of Sia's 'Chandelier' video and post it on Youtube. I must say though he really did an excellent job. Full costume, dance move memorization and the rest, this gentleman really committed.
 Bravo Sir, Bravo!

Fair Isle Style

Thursday, December 4, 2014

Lately, I've been totally obsessed with sweaters. Tons and tons of sweaters. They are so simple and comfortable and they can style up any boring outfit. It's my daily go to to pick out a sweater and then throw on a skirt and pair of tights or a pair of jeans and be good to go for whatever may come. One of my favorite sweater styles lately has been Fair Isle sweaters. Fair Isle is a traditional knitting technique used to create patterns in multiple colors. I've seen them everywhere this Fall and I have been obsessed with them too! They're so colorful and festive that it can cheer up any dark and dreary morning. Check out some of my favorite Fair Isle style favorites below!

Desktop Essentials:Holiday Edition

Wednesday, December 3, 2014

I love to dress my desk up for the holidays. Having it look festive and bright cheers me up daily and helps me get into that holiday spirit. I mean, who can be sad at their desk when they have their own little light up Christmas tree!
The Christmas Tree actually is powered by computer so I never have to worry about changing the batteries. It just plugs into one of my USB ports and it's under $10 at Target. I also love to switch out the hand sanitizer and hand cream on my desk for something more festive. Bath & Body Works has the ultimate festive hand sanitizers so I went and picked up 5 of them for $5 to put on my desk, throw in my purse, put my door, etc. I love the 'Tis The Season one cus it smells like Christmas fruits! I've talked about this in a winter hand cream favorites post, but it is also the absolute perfect set of hand creams for the Holidays. I grabbed the The Holiday Handbook Hand Creams set at Sephora during their big VIB sale and I have been loving it. My very favorite has to be the Peppermint Stick hand cream, which reminds me of candy canes and Peppermint Mochas. Every festive desk needs a festive mug and I think the seasonal Starbucks Christmas Mugs fit that bill. They have a new one every year, usually designed to look like one of their Starbucks famous red cups. I have been drinking everything out of this mug just because it looks so cheery! I also like to switch out my little mini tea infuser that sits on my desk. I usually use a cute little whale infuser, but with the holidays approaching, I switched to the most festive one I could find. It's a little Christmas Tree Tea Infuser that sits just below the water, bringing a bit of festive cheer to your glass. The last thing I like to dress up for the Holidays on my desk is my #Cube. It's perfect for streaming holiday themed photos from Instagram all day long. My favorite one to stream right now is Holiday.Desires.

Do you add any festiveness to your desk during the Holidays? Share with me in the comments!

Gift Guide: Gifts for Him

Tuesday, December 2, 2014

Buying a present for your favorite guy can be undeniably difficult. You want to get them something you know they'll love and truth is, they'll probably love anything you give them because it's from you and nobody else. Here are some of the fun gifts I've had my eye on for my guy!
MeUndies - Probably the most comfortable underwear in the world. If you're looking for a gift he will absolutely love and you are at that point where giving underwear is totally not weird than you absolutely must pick him up a couple pairs of these. They have them in every basic color and they add a new fun pattern monthly. This month's theme was the Fair Isle undies!
Trunk Club - This is definitely a more expensive gift for the man in your life, but I always like to do one big gift surrounded by a bunch of smaller ones. This is perfect for any guy looking for a good wardrobe update, but isn't quite sure where to go or what to buy. Every guy gets paired with a stylist who sends him an array of pieces based on his personal style.
The Art of Shaving Kit - My boyfriend is really into his shaving kits. As a girl I probably don't understand because, for us, all we need is some shave cream and a razor. He needs pre-shave oil and shave cream with a little brush and after-shave balm and special towels. Although I know nothing about shaving, I know that this Art of Shaving kit will be a huge hit for any guy who is really into his shaving. Sephora even had mini travel shave kits in store!
Fantastical Belts- Gone were the days when men's belts were boring and plain. I mean you can buy those too, but why not get him something that will really turn his head. I was looking around on Tuckernuck the other day and I saw their huge collection of what I like to call fantastical belts. Great patterns and styles and each one with their own personal flair.
Season Pass - Lately, my boyfriend has been really into Homeland so when trying to figure out what to get him for Christmas, I thought why not buy him a season pass of his new favorite show from iTunes. He would get to download all new episodes right as they aired and watch them whenever he had a bit of time. This is also a perfect gift for those show lovers who don't have cable! They will never miss a moment.
Shearling Slippers - I picked up a pair of shearling slippers for myself a couple months back and I have been wearing them non-stop since the weather turned chilly and I have even tried putting them on my boyfriend's feet a few times when I noticed his were a bit cold (they clearly did not fit). It's definitely a time of year for cosy slippers and I have to say these shearling slippers may in fact be the absolutely coziest.
J.Crew Casual Shirts - Maybe not the most fun gift, but perhaps the most necessary are the restocking of his casual shirts. Guys don't always like going shopping for themselves so refresh his wardrobe for him with some casual buttons downs in colors and styles that you know he'll like and you like too!

Shhh...What are you getting for the special gent in your life? Share with me in the comments below!

Countdown to Christmas

Monday, December 1, 2014

Happy December 1st everyone! The official Countdown to Christmas has begun and I love celebrating that countdown daily with fantastically fun Advent calendars. These calendars have 24 hidden surprises, one for each day until Christmas. After waiting too long last year, I went overboard this year and bought three different Advent calendars. I can't wait to open up new surprises each day. Check out some of the fun Countdown to Christmas options below!
The Benefit Cosmetics Advent Calendar was actually the very first Advent calendar I got this year. My sister grabbed it for me at a Benefit event she went to in November, knowing I had been super bummed to have missed out on it last year! It's got the perfect, travel sized editions of my favorite Benefit products tucked away in each day and I so can't wait to start opening it. It sold out pretty quickly last year, but you can still get your hands on it online at Sephora.com.

Another one of the calendars that I picked up this year was the Yankee Candle Christmas Countdown Calendar. If you're candle obsessed and Christmas obsessed, then this is the perfect Countdown calendar for you. It has small tea candles in each day in varying Yankee Candle Christmas scents. I can never get enough Christmas scents and I can't wait to start using my Christmas candles all around the house.

The last calendar that I picked up for this year was the Lego City Advent Calendar. If someone tell you that this one is only for children, then phooey on them. This is one of the coolest Advent calendars I've ever seen as each box opens to a little lego character or set piece to put together to create a snowy Christmas scene. I can't wait to pop open each door and bring a little winter wonderland to life.

Another Advent Calendar that I had my eye on is perfect for the polish lover in your life. The Ciate Mini Manor Advent Calendar  has 24 mini polishes in every shade you could want for the Winter and Christmas season. If you were looking to add a few more pretty polishes to your collection, then I would definitely grab this one!

The Best of the Body Shop Advent Calendar is an in store exclusive at the Body Shop and contains an array of travel sized portions of your favorite Body Shop products. If you travel a lot and love using The Body Shop, then this is the perfect Calendar for you. I almost got this one too, but I thought it was going a little overboard to have four different Advent calendars to open!

Are you getting an Advent Calendar this year? Which one do you prefer? Share with me in the comments below!

Thanksgiving Weekend Traditions

Wednesday, November 26, 2014

Thanksgiving weekend has always been a super busy time for me. I was always either off for a couple days from grammar school or taking a quick trip home from college to hang out with friends and family. It's always been an eventful time, full of fun traditions.
The Wednesday before Thanksgiving is a trivia night tradition with all those who came home for the holiday. My sister and I love to organize everyone to get to a local pizza trivia night to hang out with those who have come home for the holiday or those who just decided to stay in the city instead of flying all the way home for only a couple days. It's such a fun way to get us in the festive Thanksgivingspirit. There's not much better than sharing a bottle of champagne and a pizza to toast a little break in your schedule!
Another favorite Thanksgiving weekend tradition of mine is the tree lighting in Union Square. The Christmas season hasn't officially started until I see that big, beautiful tree light up in Union Square. I have been every year since I was a freshman in college coming home for Thanksgiving break. I love to get a perfect viewing spot and camp out with some friends and tasty snacks, listening to the Christmas music performances and really revel in the start of the Christmas season. (I even tend to do a little squeal when it's all lit up.)
The saturday after Thanksgiving is when we really get into the Christmas spirit by picking up our Christmas trees from Home Depot. My sister and I like to get them as early as we can so we can enjoy them for as long as we can. It's a ton of work to log multiple Christmas trees into the house and up the stairs, but it's so worth it when we see those trees aglow with our favorite ornaments and all the twinkly lights.

Have any Thanksgiving Weekend traditions of your own? Share them with me in the comments below!

Packing for Thanksgiving

Tuesday, November 25, 2014

Thanksgiving is almost here and now it's time to quickly pack for a weekend away. Since it's only a few short days, you want to make sure you pack light, only the absolute essentials, but you also want to make sure you don't forget anything that you might need! I thought I would share my Packing for Thanksgiving essentials and all of my T-day weekend away must-haves!
1. Weekend Bag - You'll definitely need a weekend bag for your Thanksgiving break. Something not too small, but not too big to carry all of your essentials.  This medium sized vegan leather bag from Sole Society is perfect for a quick weekend jaunt.
2. Warm Pajamas - I'm not sure about you guys, but my parents place is always freezing at night. The temp. practically demands the most warm and cosy pajamas known to man and I found that I really love the pairs from J.Crew. Their flannel pj sets are incredibly comfy, originally designed after boys pajamas, and super cosy, which is practically necessary for those cold nights. It will definitely bring you a bit of comfort when you slip into an old bed that is not your own during your T-day vacation.
3. Warm Layers - In the spirit of the warm pajamas, warm layers are a definite necessity when you are packing for Thanksgiving. You aren't always sure what you'll be up to, but it's pretty certain at some point, you'll probably be heading outside into the cold air. It's great to be prepared with some cute and cosy warm layer favorites.
4. Comfy Dress - Now this may not be a packing essential for everyone, but I definitely find that during Thanksgiving weekend, I head out to at least one social event or fancier dinner. I meet up with friends who I haven't seen in forever and we head out for a night on the town or there's a fancy family dinner to attend that calls for more than jeans and a comfy sweater. I always find it useful to pack a comfy, yet classy dress for Thanksgiving weekend to be prepared for that situation. You never want to pack anything too tight since come Turkey day, you're probably going to be eating your weight in delicious mashed potatoes and stuffing so having a dress with a bit of stretch is definitely necessary.
5. Travel Skincare - TSA does not care how much you love your current skincare regime so make sure to grab a travel set of all your favorites! This tiny set from Philosophy is only $10 and has a face wash, moisturizer and body wash. One thing I will be definitely be bringing home this Thanksgiving is my new Clarisonic Mia 2. It has been doing amazing things clearing my skin and it came with a cute little travel case so it's easy to pack.
6. Too Faced Eyeshadow Palette - With traveling and makeup, it's pretty ridiculous to bring all of your old favorites so I try to minimize by finding a palette that does it all. This Too Face Eyeshadow Palette has been one of my favorite for traveling. It carries both matte and sparkly shades that can be blended for day or night, making it the perfect thing for Thanksgiving dinner or Black Friday brunch.
7. Books/iPad - I actually can find it hard to fall asleep when I travel so I make sure I travel with plenty of distractions. I always prep my iPad with a bunch of new games to try or movies/tv shows to catch up on. I also tend to pack a few books for any weekend downtown. I just started Cavendon Hall, if you are a lover of Downtown Abbey then you definitely need to pick up this book!
8. Hostess Gifts - Even going over to my parents house for Thanksgiving, I still make an effort to bring over some kind of hostess gifts. It's just a nice gesture to any person's house that you stay at for a weekend. For my parents, it's usually a bottle of wine that we could share at dinner together. I, myself, do not know too much about wine so I always make sure to head to a spot where they know what they're talking about!

What about you? What is one thing you will DEFINITELY be packing this Thanksgiving weekend?

Boden Beetroot Dress

Monday, November 24, 2014

I did a major closet clean out when I moved out of my last apartment, which meant that it was time for a lot of old favorites to find a new home. I justified it to myself that if I didn't wear it at least twice in the last year that it was time for me to let it go. This also meant that there was a lot of empty space in my closet now that needed to be filled. I was on the hunt for pieces that reflect my current style and could also be dressed up and down for any occasion.
One of my favorite new pieces is this Ponte Skater Dress from Boden Clothing. I have been absolutely loving Boden Clothing recently. Their clothing is so classic with just a touch of girly-ness, which is so totally me. With a long swishy skirt, 3/4 sleeves and a bit of added stretch, this dress is perfect for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. I can feel comfortable cooking my pumpkin pie (with an apron over it of course) and quickly transition to throw on a pair of pumps and a statement necklace and be T-day party perfect. The color was also a huge draw for me. I usually veer far away from shades of purple, but I just couldn't resist the beetroot shade for Fall.
I have also been totally obsessed with this necklace as of late. It's been showing up in so many of my posts and I just can't seem to get enough. Bauble Bar, you may be my new addiction. They have such gorgeous pieces that can be dressed up or down for any event. I definitely have my eye on a bunch of pieces for  all my upcoming holiday parties! The necklace I'm actually wearing is on sale right now so definitely jump on it before it's gone!

Birchbox Unboxing - November 2014

Friday, November 21, 2014

I love getting my monthly Birchboxes. Little, TSA approved samples of products I'd love to try. This month was all about giving and giving back. Partnering with (RED), all birch boxes this month were clad in a red box to raise awareness for the fight against AIDS. It is November, it's time to give back and give thanks. Here are some of the awesome products that I am thankful to have in my box.
Amika Nourishing Mask // I tried out this mask a couple days ago and I love it so far. It's great for giving my hair of bit of extra pampering on days where I can tell it's a bit beat up. With all the holiday parties coming up, I know I'll be teasing and twisting my hair into all kinds of styles an it will be great to have this hair mask to give my locks a bit more love.
Cynthia Rowley Beauty Cream Lip Stain // This sample came in the cutest little packaging, perfect for the teeny tiny purses that I carry on a night out. It's a super creamy texture on the lips, almost like a balm, but it had a playful pink color to it. It did a light stain, but nothing too intense. I prefer more standout shades so I may have to pass this product on to my sister to try, but I'm sure she'll love it.
Gilchrist & Soames Spa Therapy Body Lotion // This lotion was a bit of a miss for me, but it may just be because I have a cornucopia of amazing body lotions already. It did have a nice marine-y smell to it and it was very light, but it just didn't do much for me in the moisturizing department. I'll have to pass this one along as well.
The Balm Cindy-Lou Manizer // I absolutely love The Balm's Mary Lou-Manizer so I was so excited to get a small sample of the Cindy-Lou shade. This one is more a peachy pink in color so it will definitely add a bit of color to my face. This sample is perfect to put in my 'on the go' touch up case so I can sweep a bit on after work before heading out to meet up with friends.
Dang Coconut Chips // Coconut chips...i'm intrigued? I had never heard or seen this chips around before. I've had shaved coconut, but never had coconut in chip form so I'll definitely have to try these out. I'm always looking for healthy afternoon snacks for an afternoon perk-me-up.
Royal Apothic Cuppa Cuppa Firming Tea Treatment Mask // I've heard amazing things about this clay mask that has been infused with a blend of exotic teas. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm dying too. The reviews said it did an amazing job of firming and smoothing your skin, all the while giving it a soft glow. Woah, it gets a lot done in only 8 minutes.

Have a favorite product from this month's birchbox?

Currently I'm Loving...

While the holidays are fast approaching, they aren't here just yet. So amidst the gift guides and holidays picks and all of my holiday preparations, I thought I would share some of the items that I have been loving in these last few weeks of Fall!
Pumpkin Apple Nutmeg Cinnamon Vanilla Bean // It's like Pumpkin Pie in a bottle. This delicious concoction from Pressed Juicery has been a staple in my weekly juice selections. It's incredibly delicious and festive and makes a pretty healthy dessert if you ask me (well, way better than eating lots of slices of Pumpkin Pie before T-day).
Clairsonic Mia 2 // This product is AMAZING. I actually had one before, but couldn't handle even a week of the purging stage that people talk about. A product that breaks your face out before it makes it better? No thank you. But this time I made it through and I'm really glad I did it because my skin looks loads better. Makeup is easier to apply, my skin has this healthy glow and the feeling that you get after you wash your face at night is just fantastic. I've never felt so squeaky clean.
Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella // This pencil was definitely a staple in my makeup routine last Winter, but I've pulled it out again a little early to use in the last of the Fall season and I'm glad I did. It's a gorgeous color on anyone, but it's always feels so hard to find a red that pairs well on a redhead. I have found it in this pencil!
Eloise // I always loved the Eloise books growing up. I mean a little girl who has free reign in the Plaza, how could I not want to do that? I love her carefree spirit and can do attitude. I recently bought the Ultimate Eloise edition that has a favorite holiday classic of Eloise at Christmastime. While I wait for the Christmas season to start, I've been reading the other books in the edition as a soothing send off to bed.
Layered Garden Necklace // If you can't tell by my Instagram page, I have been wearing this necklace non-stop since I got it a few weeks back. It was actually my first purchase from Bauble Bar and I was so glad I let one of their team members help me pick it out. It's a gorgeous first piece that is incredibly versatile and can be paired with almost any outfit.
Supernatural // I have watched and re-watched this show before, but while catching up on the couple episodes I missed from the start of the season this year, I got hooked again. I've been re-watching all my favorite episodes of the brother demon-hunting duo and loving it. If you have never watched Supernatural, it really is a story involving the supernatural. It follows two brothers, Sam & Dean, as they search for their after and fight demons, ghosts, vampires and wendigo along the way.
Creme Brûlée Lip Therapy // I have actually never purchased a Vaseline product ever, not for any particular reason, I just have always picked up another lip product. I saw this little beauty in the stocking stuffer section of target and it was such a little tube, I thought it might perfect as a backup to throw in my purse. I was so wrong, this isn't a backup for me at all. I have been using it every single day and totally loving it. I've been using it in the morning to give my lips some extra moisture before I apply lipstick. I also loving using it at night before I go to sleep and occasionally I'll grab it for touch-ups during the day if the weather seems to be particularly harsh on my lips. The scent is amazing, I mean it's Creme Brûlée for goodness sake!

Gift Guide: Gifts for Her

Wednesday, November 19, 2014

With the holidays fast approaching, so quick it's making me dizzy, I have been scouring and finding the perfect gifts for everyone on my list. For all the special ladies in my life, I always want to pick out something special and something I know they will truly love. Everything on this list is something I have either bought for myself, someone else or simply lusted after because it's a perfect present.
Big Hair Don't Care // The perfect way to get a professional blow dry look at home. This kit has everything you need inside of it, but the dry bar stylist (I know, I wish it had one of the stylists inside too)! A great gift for the girl who likes her hair with a lot of va va voom!
High Jinks Sweater // Warm and comfy sweaters make amazing gifts. It's as if someone gave you a card for a warm hug whenever you need it because that's exactly how I feel when I put on a cosy sweater.
Cashmere Tech Gloves // Who says you need to deal with frozen fingers when you need to send a text. How about cashmere lined cosyness and the ability to type when you need it? These little babies will keep your fingers toasty in cashmere while you type out your latest note.
Skinny Mini Bow Studs // I absolutely love bows. They are so classic and girly at the same time. I especially love these studs for their simplicity. To me, it's like you are the present all wrapped up in a bow.
Flannel Pajamas // It might seem lame to some to give out pajamas, but I say hooey on that. I think cute and warm pajamas make a sensational gift for when the weather turns chilly. I actually realized recently I didn't have multiple pairs of matching set pajamas, but that I would love to so I can alternate now that it's gotten cold, cold, cold. These polka dot flannels definitely show up your normal everyday pajamas.
Naked on the Run // So this palette is not technically out yet, but come Dec. 1st, you better grab it quick! The palette for a girl on the go, this kit has all of your Urban Decay favorites all wrapped up into one. I think it would be the perfect palette to touch up my makeup during work and to transition it for any after work holiday parties.
Jasmine Ribbon Necklace // You can never go wrong giving a beautiful statement necklace. Recently, I have been lusting after a million and one pieces on Bauble Bar. They have everything you can imagine when it comes to jewelry from delicate necklaces to bangles and cuffs and tons of personalized pieces to boot! I'm having a lot of fun picking out pieces to give to friends so they have a little extra sparkle to wear to their next party.

Kate Spade Holiday Picks

Tuesday, November 18, 2014

If I could only wear one my designer for the rest of my entire life, it would have to be Kate Spade. Her pieces are full of class, spirit and a touch of girly kookiness; all of which resonate with my own personality. I'm always lusting after pieces I see in the store, online or on Instagram and after checking out some of their new holiday arrivals, I found even more to love. After discovering each of these new beauties, I felt the need to share my favorites with you. Glitter and sparkle and lots and lots of bows (I can never get enough bows). They are all so quintessentially Kate Spade.

A Pop of Red

Monday, November 17, 2014

I woke up to find that it was a very chilly morning in San Francisco. I  I knew I wanted to throw on a pair of cosy tights, but I wasn't sure what else. The easiest option was to pull a dark and comfy dress from the closet. I decided on a black lace Yumi dress from ASOS. This dress is flowy and has an adorable lace overlay, it's perfect for a morning coffee and croissant run. Btw, how cute is this wallpaper? I was loving the layout of this little coffee shop in the Marina called Wrecking Ball Coffee Roasters. It's such a cute spot to sit and have a cup of coffee in the morning before a crazy busy day.

I paired my all black and blue outfit with a bright pop of red in both my lipstick, Nars lip pencil in Cruella, and my Kate Spade Cedar Street Patent Aster purse. I picked up this cute little purse last week at a shopping party hosted by Kate Spade & AFAR magazine to showcase Kate Spade's new Las Vegas collection. I've said it before and I'm sure I will say it again, Kate Spade really knows how to throw a party. Roulette tables, photo booth photographers, champagne, macaroons, everything that goes into the making of a super fun soiree!
My favorite part of this lace dress has to be the Peter Pan collar. I love, love, love Peter Pan collars on dresses. I think it gives the dress such a young and fun feel.
The chilly weather is always quick to make its way to San Francisco so I knew I needed a warm coat to keep me cosy. I absolutely love toggle coats and I was on the hunt for a new one for the Fall that wasn't super bulky. I found this cute navy blue toggle coat at Forever 21 for under $30! This coat has everything I love in a coat; toggle buttons, a wide hood and pockets. I believe every coat in the universe needs to have pockets. It's also not a super heavy coat, which is awesome because it makes it perfect for the everyday.

Anna Kendrick & Kate Spade

Friday, November 14, 2014

My favorite designer and my favorite actress combined in one incredibly festive and adorable campaign. I saw this campaign ad yesterday while perusing the Kate Spade site and I've been re-watching it practically non stop since. I think Anna really embodies the Kate Spade spirit. She's beautiful, smart, funny, and just a little bit kooky. This is actually one of her first big modeling gigs and I think she did a stunning job, but I have to say my favorite from the campaign thus far is this little ad below. Getting locked out of her apartment with oodles of Kate Spade goodies, we see how Anna spends her night hanging on her front porch, but ingenious girl that she is, she finally figures out how to get herself back inside.
I love this ad because I could totally see myself running through a similar situation. Maybe not so much to the extent that I would hurry to fashion a grappling hook out of my newly bought beauties, but it would definitely be in my realm of possibility (it looked really chilly outside).
Also, I was totally obsessed with the Mulled Wine Cedar Street Mini Maise she's sporting in the beginning of the ad. I had my eye on it at a Kate Spade event I attended last week. It would be so perfect for toting around my night out necessities. It's definitely going on my holiday wish list!
She knows how to make her own fun.

What do you think of the Anna Kendrick and Kate Spade pairing?

Hand Creams for Cold Weather

Thursday, November 13, 2014

I love the return of cold weather for giving me the excuse to pull out all my scarves, boots, tights and adorable berets. The chill in the air signals the beginning of the holiday season, but it also signals the need to pop into my local Sephora to stock up on all my thick moisturizing favorites, like hand cream. I wash my hands a lot during the day and I can't stand how dry my hands feel afterwards. It's just this icky, uncomfortable, tight sensation all over and I can't seem to focus on anything else until I handle it. To avoid the uncomfortable ickyness, I just keep hand creams in every spot possible; my desk, my purse, the bathroom cabinet, the kitchen sink, I even have a big bottle on a table in my foyer, in case I need a little moisture on my way out the door. With all those spots to stash a hand cream, I've definitely developed a few that I love. Here are some of my 'best for' hand creams to suit your every moisturizing need.

November Wishlist

Wednesday, November 12, 2014

As I start putting together all my gift guides for the holidays, I couldn't help but think of the things that I have been eyeing in the past month.
1. ASOS Oversized Square Scarf in Check  -I've seen this oversized scarf from ASOS all over instagram and I have been coveting it from afar since it has been out of stock for weeks! It looks so adorably cosy and I keep imagining all the outfits that I could coordinate it with. It is finally back in stock so if you've had your eye on it too, I would not wait to snatch it up.
2. Boden Clothing Fabulous Festive Sweater - I have been obsessed with Boden clothing for the past couple of months. It's classic british style that is totally up my alley. I have bought several dresses and some comfy pajamas from the site, but I saw this sweater and thought that it would be perfect for the holidays. They even have a 25% off sale right now that ends on Thursday!
3. Ciaté Candy Cane House - Two words; Festive and scented. I saw these at the VIB Rouge event last week and thought it was the cutest little set of polishes, perfect for the holidays. Even more perfect when I realized that they were also scented with festive scents. I ended up holding off on getting it, but my sister got one and promised we'd have a girly mani night soon to kick off the holiday season.
4. Fresh Skincare All Stars - I have loved all the Fresh products that I have used in the past and I currently need both a new face mask and a new cleanser that works well on sensitive skin. This holiday kit has both of those and more! It's a collection of all their best products and it must be a winner because it is already sold out on Sephora.com, but thankfully Fresh still has a few in stock!
5. Kate Spade Rain Check Umbrella - With Fall weather officially here, that means the start of rainy days. Unfortunately, my favorite umbrella is currently broken and I've either been borrowing my boyfriend's or walking through the rain with only my coat. Neither of these can go on much longer, I must get a new umbrella and this one from Kate Spade is certainly perfect. I love the clear umbrellas so I can avoid getting wet, but still see where I'm going. The cute little speech bubble is also just quitessentially Kate Spade, which never fails to make me smile.
6. Butter London Polish in British Racing Green - I have been on the hunt for a forest green nail polish to switch it up during the Christmas season. I posted my dilemma on twitter and one of my followers suggested the prettiest of polishes from Butter London! It's a dark green with a shimmer sparkle. I immediately realized that I needed to put it on my want list.

What is on your November Wishlist?
