Beauty DNA Unboxing-September 2014

Thursday, October 2, 2014

BeautyDNA is a monthly haircare, skincare and body care subscription service that sends you a curated full size product every month for $25. The curated item is chosen by a computer algorithm that has been based on a very in-depth beauty profile filled out by you! I have been using the service since March and it has become one of my very favorite subscriptions! I always seem to get a great product and the value of each box way exceeds the $25 price tag.
This month's product was the PHYTOKERATINE, Ultra-repairing mask, from PHYTO Paris. This mask is valued at $39. It is a deep conditioning mask that helps restore strength and shine to even the most damaged hair. My hair tends to be super dry at the ends due to the frequent use of my blow dryer. I have been looking for something that would give it a bit more moisture and strength so this product came at the perfect time.
The mask provides some seriously intense hydration, which I learned when I attempted to first use it like a conditioner and totally over-moisturized my hair. I didn't even know that was possible! You can over moisturize your hair?? The second time I used just a little on the ends of my hair and it worked smashingly. After blow-drying, my hair felt incredibly soft and manageable. My suggestion for trying out this mask is definitely to use sparingly! It works really well in small amounts, but use too much and it can make your hair kinda greasy.

  2. Sounds like a great product. I think I've been over-moisturising my hair lately because it's just so flat. I need a product like this in my life.

  5. Ummm what? Over moisturize your hair? Had no idea that was a thing. I haven't picked up a mask in a few weeks since mine ran out - I've always been itching to try out Phyto stuff from Sephora.

  11. I need to get into the habit of putting product on the ends of my hair. It can get quite greasy if I use too much conditioner!

  15. This sounds like a really great subscription! I've over conditioned my hair and it ends up heavy and looks oily almost instantly (only once it's dry though of course so washing is a whole ordeal) so that's a great tip.
