Puppies, Piglets & Llamas, Oh My!

Friday, February 27, 2015

So I must have been on a cute animal rampage this week because everywhere I seemed to look, there were adorable tiny animals doing adorable silly things. Seriously cute and seriously funny little things. Need a little puppy pick me up, I've got you covered.

Swim, Puppies, Swim!
These tiny little golden retriever babies are just learning about water and how to swim. It is crazy adorable to watch as they fall in, flounder about or swim around with their tiny little puppy paws.

Tiny Piglet Hopping
This video is only 6 seconds long, but really that's all you need to produce the biggest 'aw' moment of your life. He hops his way into your heart with his tiny little snorts.

Llamas on the Loose
When I first heard about this, I thought it was a total joke, but nope. Two llamas in Arizona broke free of the assisted living facility they were visiting and ran through the streets of Sun City. They avoided capture and dodged cars and became instant social media celebrities. Buzzfeed even created a quiz to help tell you which runaway llama you are.

Happy Friday Kiddies! Hope you all have an amazing weekend!

Bath & Body Works Island Margarita Pocketbac - Everyone and their dog has been getting sick recently and I refuse to fall under the winter cold spell. Essential to keeping healthy is keeping my hands clean. I take a bus twice a day, five days a week and that means I am touching a lot of handles, door knobs, escalators, bus poles and bus seats. It is imperative for me to have hand sanitizer with me at all times. I use it when I get off the bus, when I get into my office, when I leave the office, when I hop off the bus, anytime I know I'm touching something that can't be clean. Not only does it make me feel a lot better to know I have clean hands, but the smell of these little bad boys is incredible. Want a quick scent trip to a tropical island, then try out their Island Margarita scent.

Chanel Chance Eau de Toilette - I have missed having a signature scent! I have been jumping around with scents for the last couple months now and I just couldn't find one to call my own. Thankfully, right around Christmas, my parents had the good thought to give me the largest bottle of Chance known to man, 5 fl oz in one giant bottle! It used to be an old favorite of mine and one spritz later, it became my absolute new favorite. It is super long wearing and I love that my bf totally associates that  scent with me, even when I am not around.

Curly Kale Caesar Salad - This is kinda an odd one, but lately I have been completely obsessed with curly kale ceasar salads. I have always loved caesar salads, but I was never a big fan of the somewhat watery romaine or iceberg lettuce used in the salad. I wanted something a little healthier with a bit more green to it. Thus adding the super green, vitamin packed curly leaves in lieu of the watery ones made it become my new best friend. My absolute favorite sunday night dinner is the curly kale caesar salad and garlic bread from one of my fav. spots in the city, Starbelly.

Hunger Games Book Series - I can't believe I had never read this series! Seriously though, sooooo good. As soon as I picked up the first book, I seriously couldn't put it down. I finished all three books in a manner of days. It was the perfect series to pick up after I finished reading the Divergent series. I am quite enjoying the Dystopian young adult novel phase I am in with books right now. I even re-watched all three hunger games movies after I finished the series and I can't wait for the last movie to finally be released. I need more mockingjay!

Tarte Lipsurgence Matte Lip Tint - I can feel Spring slowly making its way to us with the warmish weeks of Winter we have been having in San Francisco. With Spring's iminent arrival comes the arrival of the Spring lip colors, like pinks and corals. I pulled out an all Tarte favorite of mine in the shade Lively. It's a beautiful hot pink lip tint that goes on like a balm and leaves your lips with a nice tingly mint sensation. Everytime I put it on, it makes me feel like skipping through a Spring meadow of flowers. It just screams bright sunshine and gorgeous colors.

Get Up And Really Go....

or not.

I was trying so hard to keep up my positive workout progress for the Get Up and Go campaign, but this week I've definitely fell behind. I had such a busy and stressful week thus far and I just haven't been able to find the energy thus far to actually get out and go. It's definitely put me in a bummed out mood, feeling like I should have figured out a way. To stop this pity party, I created a little plan to encourage myself to get to running in the future with some fun little rewards. A delicious smoothie from my favorite juice shop, that cute handmade item I've been coveting on Etsy, buying a new song to add to my workout playlist. Everytime I successfully manage to Get Up and Go, I'm going to cheer myself on with a little reward until I can get back to my positive everyday progress. Sometimes, all you need is a little jumpstart.

Workout Playlist

Monday, February 23, 2015

To get in a good workout, it is crucial for me to have music to keep me going. I don't workout as much as I should, but one of my big motivators is the new music loves that I rock out to when I do workout. The specific songs on my workout playlist are integral to me continuing to run that extra 1/4 mile, to spend that extra 5 minutes on the elliptical, to do those extra ten sit-ups. I actually choose my songs very carefully and put them in a good order so that I've got that extra push when I need it most, when I can tell I'm losing energy and motivation. Here are ten of the songs I've got currently in my workout playlist rotation that help give me that extra boost of workout motivation.

Enjoying the February Sun

The weather here in San Francisco has been up and down lately, from low 50's to mid 70's. I have been taking FULL advantage of the warm weather moments, especially with my weekends. I have been checking out a bunch of spots in the Mission (neighborhood), near my new apartment.
I just love a pretty monogram! I am so sad that C.Wonder has closed down. I absolutely loved the preppy style of their pieces. Thankfully, I still have a few C.Wonder styles that I continue to love, including this patriotic monogrammed nylon tote. I am so excited to be able to wear it throughout the Spring and Summer!

I absolutely love my new Sole Society flats! They have cute little polka dot sides and are super comfy. If you are ever on the lookout for cute and comfy flats in a million different styles, then you should definitely check out Sole Society. I couldn't wait to wear these out to Sunday brunch!

On the go Essentials

Thursday, February 19, 2015

More and more lately, I have been finding myself with smaller and smaller purses on the weekends. The big purses leave a harsh red mark on my shoulder because they are way more heavy than necessary. I carry around a million and one things I never need and tend to forget the small things that are a total necessity. Here are some of the itty bitty items that I have been carrying around on my jets out to grab coffee, brunch or do a quick shopping trip on my few days off.

Kate Spade Mini Maise - I've realized that, for myself, a small purse has to be multifunctional. It needs to be both fashionable and functional for be to be completely smitten with it and this Mini Maise totally fits the bill. It is a mini bag in nature, but as a cross body bag with a lot of space, it packs a wallop of a punch. I have been totally obsessed with since I picked it up in late December and I don't see myself putting it down anytime soon. Since I got it in black, it goes with practically every outfit I own and with the tiny top handles, it is just so darn adorable. It also does a great job of holding my iPhone 5s with its cute little lemony Kate Spade case.
Tarte Matte Lip Tint - The past week or so, it has been gloriously warm for February, mid 70's or so, and I have been taking full advantage by pulling out some of my Spring/Summer favorites, including this bright pink lipstick from Tarte. Lipstick touch-ups are a necessity for the in-between on the weekends and this lipstick is perfect for that. It smells like mint, feels like lip balm and has a gorgeous hot pink shade with big staying power. It practically screams Spring and warm weather.
Listerine Pocketmist - I have this weird thing about coffee breath. I absolutely love the taste of coffee and find it necessary for my everyday, but I can not STAND the aftertaste when I finish a cup. I have been on the receiving end of coffee breath and it is just absolutely horrid. I have become determined to never be that person and this Listerine Pocketmist definitely helps with that. One quick spray and I am clear and free with fresh breath and a smile on my face. It is an absolute purse necessity.
Island Margarita Pocketbac - I touch a million and one things when I am out and about and I know I can't wash my hands as often as I need to so that is where this little pocketbac comes in handy. With the delicious scent of a fresh margarita, this hand sanitizer keeps me fresh and clean throughout my day. Plus, it smells really amazing.
L'Occitane Hand Cream -To follow up with the hand sanitizer, you definitely need a mini purse hand cream and I think that L'Occitane makes some of the absolute BEST hand creams. They are compact, smell amazing and do the job better than you ever thought a hand cream could. Whether you are meeting old friends or new acquaintances, a silky smooth handshake is always best.
Sephora Universal Atomizer - Another on the go necessity is this small atomizer from Sephora! I spray in a small amount from my big 5 oz Chance by Chanel bottle to always have a bit of my signature scent on the go. It's the prefect size for freshening up.
Kate Spade Darla Wallet (old, similar) - I love this little teeny wallet. The soft leather and front bow completely scream Kate Spade and totally show off my sense of style. I always love a well placed bow and this wallet make me smile every time.
Cover FX Mineral Foundation - For us oily, shiny faced girls, a powder compact is an absolute must for on the go. This compact is my favorite by far! It is built for sensitive, acne-prone individuals like myself and goes on like a dream. I am never embarrassed to go 'powder my nose' with this compact.

Running around

Wednesday, February 18, 2015

To go on a daily run, I definitely need fun workout clothes to get me in the spirit. It's not inspiring enough for me to go out in the same shorts and shirts everyday. A bit of spunk in my workout clothes does a great job of motivating me to get me in gear. So much so that I was able to beat my record from last week! For this week's Get Up And Go progress, I was able to keep myself going to 1.5 miles! I'm quite proud of my beating my old record, even if it is kinda small relative to other runners. I think my favorite part is the high I'm getting from a bit more exercise. The whole thing about exercise giving you endorphins is definitely true. You go Elle Woods! It puts me in such a happy mood for the rest of my day and helps me release some of the stress that has been piling up recently.

My Garmin watch does a killer job tracking my progress during my runs. It keeps tabs on my pace, heart rate and calories burned.
I have been obsessed with Krass & Co shorts for quite awhile now. I love how unique each pair is and how I know I'll never run by another girl with the same pattern. So preppy and fun, they are totally my style. I especially adore these Limited Edition College Prepster shorts, created in collaboration with one of my favorite bloggers, Carly of The College Prepster. They have this adorable little glasses design on the side and they are ridiculously comfortable to boot. They definitely add a bit more fun to my daily run.
All teched out, thanks to Staples, with my Garmin Forerunner watch that helps keep me on track during my runs and my FitBit One that is perfect for keeping a record of my everyday exercise. Also, I have to admit that working out is more fun when I get to put on this comfy Birchbox tee that never fails to give me a glowing compliment. Good Morning Gorgeous indeed! I have been loving this collaboration with Staples supporting the #GetUpAndGo campaign to raise awareness for American Heart Month. It's definitely helped me to get out and get my heart pumping! Hopefully, I can continue beating my own records.

5 Ways to Keep Cosy...

Tuesday, February 17, 2015

Although this weekend was delightfully warm, the past couple of months have been nothing but chilly and unyielding. Seriously, I am officially over this freezing cold weather and the sadness it seems to bring. It's a real downer on the psyche. In lieu of all this numbing cold, I found a couple of ways to bring some cosy warmth back into my life!
1. Try Eating Something Hot - A no brainer on most people's 'keep cosy' lists, but I still think it's super important. Warm yourself from the inside out by making your favorite soup or stew. For me, it's definitely all about the Grilled cheese and Tomato soup combo. There is almost no meal in the world more comforting than that.
2. Add Extra Blankets - Another no brainer, but it needs to be followed to the letter. It's not just about a million extra blankets, but the right kind of blanket. Maybe you're adding your favorite down blanket or the blanket that used to be on your bed as a kid, but the type of blanket you add can really cinch that extra bit of cosyness to your day. For me, it's definitely this blanket I had as a kid that has a dark horse emblazoned on it. It always reminds me of home.
3. Head Outside - So I know this one is going to sound a bit crazy, but it totally works. Bundle yourself and head outside to take a walk in the super chilly air. Make sure it's at least 15 minutes so that your body gets slightly acclimated to the cold. Then, pop yourself back inside! You will think you have just walked into the warmest and cosyest house alive because compared to the outside temperature, this is heated heaven.
4. Burn Some Scented Candles - The flicker of the flames, the delicious scent wafting through the hallway, there is just something about candles that always makes me feel a bit warmer inside. I think the scent you choose definitely adds to the cosy feelings. I always end up going for cinnamon, baking or desserty scents like this Vanilla Bean Marshmallow candle.
5. Throw on Some Cosy Slippers - This one can totally get left behind when it comes to thinking cosy, but for these little bad boys are an absolute must. As soon as I get out of bed in the morning and  as soon as I get home at night, cosy slippers are on my feet.

Just a bit of Pale Citrus

I can't believe how warm and sunny it was throughout San Francisco this weekend. I mean, it's February and it's 72 degrees?! It was crazy and obviously I needed to take full advantage of the warm weather and pull out a perfect outfit to celebrate the change in temperature.

I have expressed my love of J.Crew Factory's fluted skirts before. They are so versatile and comfy that it has become an everyday go to for my daily wardrobe. Of course, as soon as I saw the skirt appear in two new shades for Spring, I picked them up immediately. One of the shades I grabbed was Pale Citrus, a bright greeny yellow. I was so excited to get to pull it out for this weekend as the weather heated up.

For Valentine's Day, my boyfriend gave me this gorgeous German Handcrafted silver-plated cuff bracelet. It's so simple and elegant and totally my style. With jewelry, other than a few statement pieces, my style for the everyday is very plain. I usually wear a pair of diamond studs and a delicate bow necklace from Tiffany's. This silver-plated cuff is the perfect finishing touch for my everyday.

Do you ever find yourself on an IMDB trailer watching binge? I always go to watch one single trailer and then I get sucked into watching a million others. I never really mind. It's like sifting through a bookshop and only reading the inside cover of the book, a little sneak peek into the plot of the movie.  After a serious trailer watching binge last night, I have successfully found at least a dozen movies that I will definitely be seeing this year. Here are some of the films I am most excited to see!

Creating your own Bestie Box

I really love subscription boxes. I love getting little packages every month in the mail full of exciting new goodies that I get to try out. However, I'm not a huge fan of the price tag that comes with my monthly box and I do find more often than not that I don't like a lot of the products that are in my box. It's hard for a company to always tailor every box to fit each individual's specific tastes and preferences. Recently, both my sister and I cancelled a favorite subscription box of ours for that exact reason. Too expensive and not enough of the things we like! Then, I had an idea. Why don't we create a subscription box for each other?! We know each other so well that the products would always be to the other's tastes and creating one box for the other person every other month would bring down the hefty subscription box price tag. I put together the first box under the theme Romance & Relaxation for the upcoming Valentine's Day holiday! I had so much fun shopping around for little products and knick knacks that I knew my sister would absolutely adore and I was totally right. She already has that little red Valentine's mailbox sitting on her desk at work. I really can't wait to see what she comes up with for the month of April!

Get Out And Go (Weekly Progress)

Tuesday, February 10, 2015

Progress for week 1 of the Get Up And Go campaign with Staples for American Heart Month.
I have successfully run 1.25 miles! Now, I realize that this may not be a lot for some people, but I have not run a single mile since my Freshman year of high school. Embarrassingly enough, it still took a whole lot out of me to even get to that 1 mile marker. Thankfully my sister, who went running with me and runs a few miles almost daily herself, kept me motivated  to hit that marker and work to go a little further. I have been loving the little tech gadgets that Staples sent me to aid me to #GetOutAndGo this month. I have been especially obsessed with my Fitbit for the all day everyday. Now while I can't be running 24/7, I love seeing the steps tick up on my Fitbit, encouraging me to take that extra long walk to lunch or to make that extra trip around the block to get some fresh air. Last week, I took over 59,000 steps and I'm sure I stepped more because I could see my progress whenever I wanted. I can't wait to see if I can beat my record, both in steps and in running next week!

Currently I'm Loving...

Monday, February 9, 2015

Graze - I have been absolutely loving Graze box lately. It's a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly subscription snack box that has a crazy amount of snacking options. I find that they are the perfect mid-day pick me up in my office and with so many crazy combinations, I love opening up those boxes.
Glam Glow - I have had a whole lot of stress on my plate lately. This has led to a major face freakout that led to more stressing out, which led to more face freakout and the cycle continues. I broke out this mask and I am so happy I did. This mask did an amazing job of reducing the severity of my flare-ups and smoothing out the bumps on my face after just one use so I really can't wait to see what this can do after a couple of uses.
Coconut Leaves - So I know it's still winter, but I have been dreaming of summer sun and one smell that totally makes me think of summer and vacation is the smell of coconut. This candle seriously just brings up memories of sunscreen, sand and gorgeous waters. Summer and sun, please get here soon!
Champagne Bears - Valentine's day is almost here and, in preparation, I bought a WHOLE bunch of candy including the incredibly delicious Champagne Bears from Sugarfina. Imported from Germany and infused with Brute and Rosé champagne, these teeny bears are super tasty and totally Valentine's Day present appropriate.
The Hunger Games - After finishing the entire Divergent series, it only seemed appropriate to immediately pick up the entire Hunger Games series. I just started Catching Fire, which means I have totally been speed reading and loving the series. It feels so great to find another series to totally jump into.
Defense-Up - Lately, it seems like everyone around me is getting sick so I have been trying really hard to boost my health and immunity. These Evolution Fresh juices have really been doing the trick. They give me such a great boost of energy and pack a ton of vitamin and fruit juice punch in them. Seriously, I'm pretty sure it's my new addiction. I'm hoping a couple juices a day will keep the bad colds away!

What have you been loving lately?

Valentine's Day Gifts for Him

Sunday, February 8, 2015

Do you buy your boyfriend a present for Valentine's Day? I used to think it was a holiday for just the girls, but with my boyfriend Jean-Pierre, I just get so excited to pick out presents for him. I spent a good bit of time trying to pick out a few items to try and show him how much he means to me. Here are some of the gift ideas I found that I thought were just too cute!

Rainy Day

There's a big rain storm headed to the bay. I decided to get prepared with the perfect outfit to wear on a rainy day. I love, love, love this sweater from Talbot's. It's super comfy and I love the little elbow patches and little red rain boots. Since I still need to be somewhat dressy for work, I paired the sweater with a gingham button down from J.Crew and a J.Crew Factory fluted skirt. I own the fluted skirt in every color since it pairs so well with SO many of my outfits.

I'm definitely prepared for a rainy day!
These hunter packable boots are super amazing when it comes to rainstorms and big puddles!

Valentine's Day Gifts for Her

Wednesday, February 4, 2015

I can't believe it's already February! The first month of the year flew by way too fast. It's okay though because I adore the month of February and its Valentine's Day celebrations.
Valentine's Day when I was single involved one of my best guy friends overnighting me a dozen cupcakes from my favorite spot, Georgetown Cupcake and my mom sending me a Valentine's day card with a frilly red pair of VS undies. I loved it. Being with my favorite guy, it usually means flowers and candy and love, which I also quite enjoy.
While Valentine's Day can be meant for those who are in love, it can also be a good moment to love yourself. Whether you are paired up or happily solo, I think it can be the perfect time to spoil yourself or your friends with a little little something special.

Morning Skincare Routine

Monday, February 2, 2015

I love going through my skincare routine in the morning. It feels like it's my pre-coffee wake up that jump starts the day. My routine has definitely changed over the years, especially as my acne continue to have flare-ups way past my teenage years and I think I finally found one that works for both my acne prone and somewhat sensitive skin. When I wake up, I immediately reach for my Burts Bees lip balm. I love the minty scent that does a good job of masking that morning breath if you have a significant other that you'd like to give a quick 'good morning' kiss. I have been loving using the Konjac Sponge every morning with my Boscia Purifying Cleansing Gel. I love how gentle this cleanser is on my skin and the sponge is the perfect daily exfoliator for my morning routine. After I wash my face, I use a cotton pad with Clinique Clarifying Lotion as a toner. It does a great job of toning without drying out my combination skin. After I'm washed and tone, I have been repeatedly reaching for the Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream as my morning moisturizer. It is the perfect moisturizer that balances out my combo skin plus anti aging is always a bonus!

What are your go to products in your morning skincare routine?

Time to Get Out And Go

Most people think of hearts in the month of February as symbols of Valentine's Day and visuals of romantic love, but February is also American Heart Month. I've teamed up with Staples to raise awareness and to challenge myself with the #GetOutAndGo campaign to show my own heart some much needed love. Some great ways to reduce your risk for heart disease are a healthy diet, continuous exercise and regular checkups. I realized lately that I really need to work on pushing myself in the exercise and healthy eating department.
The Get Up And Go campaign is all about pushing you outside your comfort zone, getting your heart rate up and getting into healthy habits that will pave the way to living with a healthy heart. A big challenge that I would love to take on throughout the month of February would be running. I love the idea of running, but I'm not a huge fan of the reality. I haven't been able to push myself past the breathlessness that seems to always be associated with attempting to make it past that first mile. I am determined to work through that breathlessness and push myself to run a 5k by the end of the month. Now, that may not seem like a lot to some, but it is a lot to someone who has not run a full mile since high school. I will be keeping you updated on my progress using the fun tech gadgets that Staples sent along including the handy dandy and oh so adorable fit bit. At the end of the month, you'll even be given the chance to win a fit bit of your very own from Staples! As for now, I'll be working towards living heart healthy.

Let's get active!
