Floral Ruffle Top

Sunday, February 28, 2016

Now I know that Spring isn't exactly here yet, but we've been having a week of sunny and warm weather in SF and I've been taking FULL advantage. While I can't quite break out the sundresses yet, I did find this super cute floral Rebecca Taylor crop top that I needed to find an occasion to wear it out and about. Sunday brunch was just the reason.
In all honesty, I first saw the top on Young & Hungry and did some google searching to find out where I can pick up one of my own. It's just such a cute and happy print that it puts me in a good mood just to look at. Obviously, I needed it.
While it was sunny and warm, San Francisco weather can change on a dime so I knew I had to pair the flowery, short sleeve top with a pants and jacket. These pants have become an instant staple in my wardrobe. They're incredibly comfy and I love that I can dress them up or down. I've bought them in practically every color and you'll find me in a pair (at least) once a week.
As for as impulse buys go, this purse has been one of my best ones. I usually do my research before buying a purse. I'll go visit in the store and give it a second and even third and fourth look before making the buy. This time around, it was a definitely see-buy-wear sort of thing, but one I haven't regretted. Always a good sign!

Current Beauty Favorites

Wednesday, February 24, 2016

I'm not one who switches up her beauty routine all that often, but lately I have been adding a bunch of new obsessions to my makeup bag that I find myself reaching for morning after morning. Once I realized that I had a bunch of new favorites, I knew I had to share them. Check out some of my new beauty obsessions below and let me know what products you have been loving lately!
Cargo Swimmables Blush // A water-resistant blush doesn't really seem like a necessity when it's the middle of February, but I've always had an issue with my blushes fading throughout the day. With this blush, I never have to worry. When 5pm hits, it looks the same as it did at 9 a.m. that morning. A total feat in my book.
RMS Beauty 'un' cover up // The way I discovered this product was actually through Snapchat! I was going through and watching all of the Birchbox snapchats and for the last few weeks, they've been passing the baton to a few of their girls, giving you the inside look to their beauty routines, which I love to hear about. Girl after girl had this concealer in their morning beauty routine. Looking at reviews, I totally understood why. It's the ultimate in blend-able makeup. I can dab a little of this on during low-maintence makeup days on any spots and it looks so natural! As far as trying to have a natural makeup look, this is definitely the top of the list.
Benefit Hoola Bronzer // I go back and forth with using bronzers. I'm such a pale girl that even giving myself a little color can make me look a little off. I think what I've finally learned is to buy the proper brushes and I can easily use this AWESOME bronzer to give myself a very light sheen of color that gives my face a little contour without being over the top.
Benefit Brow-Zing // To really make my eyebrows pop, I prefer shadow to pencil and this shadow kit is at the top of that list. Not only does it do a great job of blending in my eyebrows, but the mini tweezer makes it perfect for travel so I never worry about having an eyebrow out of place.
YSL Volupté Tint-In-Oil // If you're looking for some low-maintenece lip color, you need to splurge on one of these! I got a sample of this in the shade Cherry My Cherie and it is the prettiest shade of bright pink. It goes on really light your first application, but the gloss isn't stick at all and smells amazingly like apricots. After a second application, you can really see the pink coloring stay on your lips. It even passed the eating lunch test with no need to re-apply. I had to buy the full size for everyday and keep the mini for my nighttime clutches. I can totally see this being the only lip color I use until Fall!
Bare Minerals Blemish Remedy Foundation // I will never give up my love of powder. I hate shine and I always have a compact on me somewhere. It's probably why I love this powder foundation. Bare Minerals knows how to make a light powder that won't cake up on your face and their blemish remedy formula works amazing for my sensitive skin.
Clinique chubby in the nude foundation stick // For days when I need a little bit more cover, this light foundation stick is perfect. I can use it both for foundation/concealer and it's so easy to blend with my  beauty blender.
Sephora Nano Lip Liner to Go // I've been totally obsessed with these! Their tiny size, inexpensive price point and array of colors make them my go to for lip liners. Every time I go to pick up a new lipstick now, I immediately head over to the Sephora brand section to find the nano lip liner that matches.

Skincare Favorites

Sunday, February 21, 2016

I've never been a huge fan of my skin. It's probably because it's always been such a pain in the butt to take care of. I have oily/combination acne-prone skin that is pretty sensitive and when it comes to skin-types, it's pretty much the worst. Now that I've gotten through all my complaining about my skin, I've actually turned a corner in the past few months and I think it has a lot to do with the products I've been using. I finally invested into taking the time to try out a bunch of new skincare products and slowly, but surely, I have formulated the perfect routine to keep my difficult skin under control and looking fresh and healthy. I'm definitely not a skincare expert (NOT AT ALL) and I can't promise that any of these products will work as well for you as they have for me, but if you have the same skin-type that I do, I would definitely suggest giving some of these awesome products a go. Check them out!
Day:  I always assumed that your daytime/nighttime skincare routine would be the same, but for me that's definitely not the case. To look my best in the morning vs. the night, I need a whole different arsenal of amazing products. Starting with my cleanser, I have always loved the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish cleanser, but I would notice that midway through the bottle, it would stop working as well. I blamed it on the cleanser and started using a whole new one until I read some reviews and realized that I just needed to use a new muslin cloth when I got halfway through a bottle. The cloth, being covered with grime day after day, wasn't doing me any favors. Now, the cleanser works amazingly from the start of the bottle to the very end!
After I scrub my face, it's all about the toning. I have been using CaudalĂe Beauty Elixir. The scent is incredibly calming, it does an amazing job of brightening my complexion and I can spray it on whenever throughout the day for a little wake-up call. It's also perfect for setting your makeup or giving it a quick refresh.
As far as an eye cream, I used to use the same for both day/night but with my puffy early-morning eyes, I need a little something more. Boscia's Super Cool De-Puffing Eye Balm is seriously magic for me in the morning. It wakes up my eyes, instantly calms the puffiness and makes me feel way less sleepy, which is an amazing feat in itself. I've even taken to throwing in my purse for super sleepy days and dapping a little bit eye after lunch to keep me from falling asleep at my desk (so necessary).
The last skincare step for me in the morning is my moisturizer and since I found Fresh's Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream I have never looked back. It's light, absorbs really quickly and does a great job of making my skin look glowy and moisturized, even in winter!

Night: I think my nighttime skincare routine has been the biggest game changer for me. I had a morning skincare routine that I was using for nighttime and it just wasn't working for me. With a whole night of sleep, I should've been focusing on repairing my tired skin, but I was just going on using the same products as before. With my new improvements, my skin has been way easier to deal with and continuing to improve on a daily basis. I usually start my nighttime routine by removing all my makeup with Neutrogena Hydrating Make-Up Remover Cleansing Wipes. I used to use the original wipes, but with winter being so dry, these have been perfect for removing my makeup without taking away all the oils. I opt to do a really good job with the cleansing wipe instead of using a nighttime cleanser.
For toning, I think I found the holy grail when it comes to amazing exfoliating toners in the Pixi Glow Tonic. Now I understand why every beauty blogger I know has raved about this product. It literally does give your skin a nice glow, all the while exfoliating any dead skin and residual makeup that may have been left behind. Seriously, you should pick up a mini sample size of this product and give it a go. It may not work for everyone, but it's done an amazing job on my sensitive skin.
After toning, I reach for my bottle of Origins High Potency Night-A-Mins Skin Refining Oil. I found this product after I tried a sample of the renewal night cream and fell totally in love with the product. I wanted to keep the good skin vibes going so I immediately ran to my Sephora to grab a bottle of the refining nigh oil. Besides the great creamsicle like smell, it's been great for reducing any fine lines I have (say bye bye annoying forehead wrinkle) and giving me a healthy looking complexion when I wake up in the morning.
After patting in my oil, I reach for its companion, the Origins High Potency Night-A-Mins Renewal Cream. Like I said with the oil, great scent, great results and I already know I'll be re-purchasing again and again. You should definitely go and grab a sample at Sephora and try it out for yourself.
I have been using the Algenist Complete Eye Renewal Balm for almost two years now and I still love and re-purchase it everytime I'm out. I've gone through a variety of eye creams, but it seems to be the only one who has ever done anything for my dark under-eye circles and it's perfect to use at night when I can give it the most time to absorb!
Last, but certainly not least in my skincare routine is the Origins Super Spot Remover. While my skin has been pretty clear lately with all my new skincare additions, one or two spots will definitely pop-up once in awhile, usually when I've hit a week of intense stress. To combat that, this spot remover has been my go-to. I usually hate products with Salicylic Acid, but the ingredients in this little bottle do a great job of taking out the redness from a spot and reducing its size. Huzzah to that!
